MONSTERS vs MADNESS
a Benefit Auction for Planned Parenthood
PART III
Well, Here's another exciting installment of my Phantom of the Opera figure for the upcoming MONSTERS vs MADNESS auction! This is probably THE most boring part of a project like this...seam cleaning. The great thing about primer is, it helps to bring EVERY surface imperfection to light...showing you how much trimming, sanding, & filling you need to accomplish BEFORE you start to paint the damn thing. As you can imagine, there were a LOT of imperfections that needed to be addressed on this injection molded figure, using the 50 year old molds. Trust me, it could have been a lot worse, so I'm only going to bitch a little bit.
So, after about an hour or so, I trimmed, scraped and sanded all the major imperfections away, AND washed him again. Surprisingly, he didn't look too bad.
He was given one last coat of primer, and was ready for FINAL painting....I still haven't decided for sure what I am going to do, its between 2 different concepts.
But first, I needed to paint him entirely BLACK.
